One of the world’s best countries for British expats has fantastic visa options | Travel News | Travel

Since the pandemic, remote working has become far more common and many Britons are able to work from home or somewhere slightly further afield.

While many Brits are attracted to the idea of working in Spain or France, they might not be the simplest options. Since Brexit, Britons can spend a maximum of 90 days out of every 180 in the Schengen Zone without a visa.

If you’re looking for a slightly longer stay as an expat, Georgia might be the perfect choice. According to the travel experts at booking platform Omio, it’s one of the world’s best countries for remote work.

Georgia sits on the border of Europe and Asia and it’s a fantastic choice for Britons looking for a cheaper lifestyle.

British nationals can stay in Georgia for up to a year without a visa but will need to apply for a longer-term visa if they intend to work there.‌

Many expats choose to live in Georgia’s pretty capital city, Tbilisi. Located in a valley, the city has an attractive Old Town and a hipster culture.

Britons will find it’s much cheaper than the UK with a cappuccino costing around £2 on average in the capital.

According to Numbeo, the average cost of rent for a single person in Tbilisi is around £630 for an apartment in the city centre.

While Tbilisi might be the best choice for remote workers, Georgia is also known for its incredible natural beauty.

Batumi is the country’s second largest city and one of its leading Black Sea coastal resorts. The city also has three national parks.

A hiker’s paradise, Georgia has some fantastic trekking opportunities in the Caucasus Mountains.
